  • The Book Fair will run from March 12-27.

    • Wish Lists during class time: March 13-18
    • Purchases during class time: March 19-22
    • Open during Bingo Night on March 22 and during Conferences on March 25-26

It’s time to set up your e-wallet and share it with family and friends who want to contribute funds to your readers. After the fair, E-Wallet balances will be emailed to you in the form of a gift card, which you can use online. Gift cards must be converted back to e-wallet if you choose to use these funds for the Spring Fair. If you choose, you can also donate your balance to help buy more books for Penn Wood. Please return the form below (see attached flyer) if you wish to donate funds from your e-wallet.

You can also pre-order the new DogMan Book. Look for the pre-order form in the Home & School newsletter!

yearbOOK photo submission

The Yearbook Committee will develop the yearbook in waves and we need your help!

You can help by following these steps:

1. Log in to this website with your user name and password if you aren't already logged in.

2. Access the Yearbook Photo Submission page HERE or by navigating to the How You Can Help tab and selecting Yearbook Photo Submission.

3. Upload your photos per event/activity by the due date listed.  Early school year event photos are due February 29.  The rest of the photos will be due on/before April 5.

Thank you for your help in making the yearbook memorable for our students!

spring teacher luncheon

It's time again for parent-teacher conferences. Let's show our teachers just how much we appreciate them with a fantastic lunch on their long day of conferences - Tuesday, March 26.

Home & School will be providing sandwich trays and salads from Wegmans, and we hope you can help provide some additional sides, salads, drinks, sweets, and treats. Any leftovers will be placed in the staff kitchen. Good news! Homemade items are allowed, so dust off that crock pot or grandma's famed dessert recipe!

Please drop your items off on March 26 by 11 a.m. at the absolute latest. You can bring them to the main office or drop them off during car line on Tuesday morning.

The SignUpGenius for donations can be found HERE.

Yearbooks are on sale NOW!

To order, log into pennwoodhsa.com and then click this LINK

You will also be able to find the order form by:

1. Logging into pennwoodhsa.com

2. Clicking on "My Account"

3. Scrolling down to "New Forms."

4. Select "2023-24 Yearbook Order Form"

$15.00 Early Bird Price - until March 31

$18.00 Regular Price - after March 31 (to May 31)

We recommend one yearbook per child. Yearbooks are distributed at the end of the school year where classmates often enjoy writing in each others' books. We encourage you to purchase yearbooks at this time because we need an accurate count before the final book goes for printing. A small amount of books may be accessible for purchase after the deadline for $20.00, but we cannot guarantee availability.

* Reminder: 5th graders automatically receive (1) yearbook included in their 5th grade fee, so you only need to submit the form for your 5th grader if you wish to order additional copies.

4th & 5th Grade Track meet shirts

WCASD Track & Field Day is Wednesday, May 15 (rain date May 17) for 4th and 5th grade students. Home & School will be providing shirts for all 4th grade students and any new 5th grade students. Shirts will be delivered to school and handed out the day of the event.

Please click HERE to let us know what size shirt your child will need. You may want to "size up" so it still fits next year. We will also have a table set up during conferences if you would like to see the shirts for sizing. Size orders are due by Friday, April 5.

** 5th grade - Your child should re-use their t-shirt from last year and wear it to school on the day of the track meet. If you’d like to purchase a replacement for $5, click the above link and we will contact you for payment.

classroom party sign up

Classroom parties are a favorite Penn Wood tradition and we are again using a SignUpGenius for all three parties at once.

Three volunteers will be able to sign up for each classroom per party.   Party volunteers will plan the snacks & activities. More details and guidelines will be sent from Home & School to the volunteers closer to the date of each party. The parties are as follows:

· Halloween Party - scheduled for Tuesday, 10/31/2023 after the 2pm Halloween parade

· Holiday Party - scheduled for Thursday, December 21st.  The party times vary by grade. See schedule below:

  • K: 2:00-3:00 p.m.
  • 1st: 12:30-1:30 p.m.
  • 2nd: 1:30-2:30 p.m.
  • 3rd: 2:00-3:00 p.m.
  • 4th: 2:00-3:00 p.m.
  • 5th: 2:00-3:00 p.m.

· End of Year - Monday, 6/10/2024 is a PLACEHOLDER.  As it gets closer to June, each grade will select a date and time that works best with their schedule and volunteers will be notified ASAP. NOTE: The 5th Grade Committee plans the 5th Grade year-end party and the sign-up is organized separately.

Be sure to read the rules below BEFORE signing up.  Some of these rules increase the chances that each student will have a parent volunteer at one of their class parties during the year.  Thank you in advance for being considerate!

  • Please only sign up once for each child and once per day (parties may be the same time for different grades.)
  • Volunteers from the same household are limited to ONE party per child.
  • You must have all three volunteer clearances on file with Penn Wood's main office to volunteer.  (See https://www.wcasd.net/domain/1039 for more information.)
  • You cannot bring siblings.
  • We recognize there may not be a spot for everyone who wants to volunteer. There will be two Alternate spots per classroom per party so if you do not get a spot, you can sign up as an alternate and you may be contacted if any of the original volunteers cannot attend. You can also keep your eye out for other volunteer opportunities on PennWoodHSA.com.

school store

The PWE School Store will be open Tuesday & Thursday mornings before school from 8:30-9:00 a.m. The store is set up in between the cafeteria & gym and sells everything from school supplies (crayons, folders, erasers) to fun things (keychains, bookmarks, squeeze balls, bendable pencils) to PWE gear (stickers, bracelets, maybe more to come!). Everything is priced between $0.10 and $2.00.

Volunteers: We rely on volunteers to run the store and can’t open without them! Please consider signing up – it’s quick (30 min), your kid(s) will LOVE helping you run it, and the PWE students really enjoy shopping. Sign up here!  Volunteer clearances are required.

All Parents: Some kids have come in with special money ($2 bills, dollar coins), so you may want to check what they’re bringing in so they don’t part with special tooth fairy or other occasion gifts!

Thank you in advance for your support of the School Store!

Penn Wood chocolate bowl 2023-24

Our Penn Wood teachers and staff enjoy a chocolate treat, mints, and even hard candy every so often. Home & School started a bowl of chocolate in 2020 and we would like to keep this going. If you would like to send a big bag (possibly from Costco) or 2 of individually wrapped candies, please sign up below.

It doesn't have to be the exact date you signed up for but that week would be great. You can send candy in with your student and label the bag "Penn Wood Chocolate Bowl" or drop off to the main office.  There are about 60 staff members.

Sign up HERE.  Thank you!
